Axles of history

Jan Cox never said, to my present recollections, that he suggested Jimmy Carter might run for president of the United States. I am not sure why that possibility hovers in my memory. Jan and Carter both ran for governor of Georgia at the same time. They were friends. Untraceably affecting history in such a manner is the style of a hidden tradition in history. I more than "wouldn't rule out" Jan Cox affecting history in such a manner: making a suggestion so that the source of the idea is forgotten.
